Interz0ne Panel Discussion
1500, Sp-421, 29 April 2004

How can you test your computer security skills to determine their real-world value?

Ever-increasingly, NPS students and staff are participating in computer security games to find out what does and does not work. A common contest, known as capture-the-flag, in which digital data must be captured and protected by locating and fixing computer system vulnerabilities, was held at the Interz0ne conference in Atlanta, Georgia. A large team from NPS participated in this contest in order to gain security insight as well as to prepare for the annual championship event to be held at DefCon in Las Vegas.

The team will be discussing their experiences at this panel to provide a narrative of the event, convey their insight into real problems and solutions, and discuss what classes contributed to their success.
