Abstract:
MILS is a high assurance architecture currently under development that is based upon the concept of separation as proposed by John Rushby in the early 80's. Separation has long been used by the avionics community for guaranteeing safety for flight systems. MILS leverages the existing experience of this community for building safe systems to now build secure systems. MILS concepts covered in this presentation will include the layered architecture, component concepts and Common Criteria certification efforts.
